This morning, we sent out a Caltex email survey that resulted in some customer email addresses being visible to other customers. No other information was visible.
We’ve got in touch the relevant customers to let them know and to offer our sincerest apologies for the outcome. While we believe the risk is very low, we’ve asked them to be extra vigilant about any phishing activity.
For any of our customers or app users, we’d like to remind you that Caltex will never send you an email asking for your account or financial details, or your log in details for the Caltex App.
What to do to protect yourself
If you believe you have received an email from someone who you don’t know, or someone pretending to be Caltex New Zealand:
- Do not click on any unexpected or unusual links, or open any attachments.
- Delete the message from your inbox.
- Visit Netsafe to learn more about phishing and how to avoid it.
